The Order of Kilimanjaro Award

On Saturday, December 5, 1998, the African
Overseas Union, with the support of local and national associated businesses and community service organizations will host a celebration of the life and accomplishments of world renown writer, educator and .
philosopher, Dr. Maya Angelou by presenting her the coveted Order of Kilimanjaro Award.

An Intimate Luncheon With The Alafin

Local business professionals, politicians and persons interested in promoting unity among peoples of the world community, shall have the very rare privilege of lunching with The Alafin of Oyo - the Sacred King of the Yorubas. This is an unprecedented event in the lives of the African people.

The Award Ceremony
6:30 PM

An evening of refreshments, entertainment and celebrities culminating with a special tribute to Maya Angelou and the investiture with the Order of Kilimanjaro Award.

The program will be honored by the presence of Celebrity MC's Melanie Lawson of KTRK-TV and Linda Lorelle of KPRC-TV.
