The Citizens Clean Air Project is a coalition of individuals, nonprofit organizations, businesses, health care professionals, educators, and scientists concerned about the health effects of air pollution in Houston. During April and May, this Coalition will be holding a number of events to promote the need for clean air.

Our Purpose

Our purpose is to create a balanced coalition of businesses, nonprofit organizations, community groups, and individuals. This Coalition will publicize the air quality problems in the Houston area, educate the public about various remedies to these problems, and provide channels for dialogue between businesses, nonprofit organizations, community groups, and individuals.

How we will do this

In response to public and industry resistance to clean air measures, we have launched a grassroots and media campaign to educate the public that clean air improves the quality of life and that both citizens and industry share the responsibility for protecting our rights to breathe clean air. Our campaign will showcase air pollution problems and possible solutions, including:
  • Public mobilization to unify citizens in demanding a real change
  • Grassroots neighborhood educational outreach
  • Clean Air Day in conjunction with the Downtown Street Festival
  • Billboard Art Contest highlighting these programs and issues
  • Implementation of most effective pollution control technologies.
