Dallas activists collect medicine for Iraq
by Cliff Pearson
Dallas ~ The Dallas peace and justice community supports the agreement reached between Saddam Hussein and the U.N., but continues to protest the devastating economic sanctions which have already killed over a million Iraqis, including 600,000 children. Dallas activists are asking supporters to collect medicine (children's and adults' vitamins and non-prescription pain killers) to be sent to Iraq with the next "Voices in the Wilderness" delegation. "Voices in the Wilderness" is a Chicago-based organization that takes food and medicine to Iraq in violation of U.N. sanctions. When the medicine is ready for shipping to Iraq, local activists will hold a public event to protest the sanctions and officially "send off" the vitally needed aid.
